PHASE 1A -Safety and Efficacy of EGEN-001 Combined With Carboplatin and Docetaxel in Recurrent, Platinum-Sensitive, Ovarian Cancer To find out more about our clinical trial go here: http://www.clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT00473954?term=egen-001&rank=2 EGEN-001 is an Interleukin-12 (IL‑12) gene therapy in clinical development for the treatment of disseminated epithelial ovarian cancer. EGEN‑001 is low concentration formulation composed of a human Interleukin-12 plasmid formulated with our proprietary PPC delivery system. EGEN-001 is designed for intraperitoneal delivery into the local tumor environment. The subsequent IL-12 protein expression is associated with an increase in immunological activity including T-lymphocyte and NK cell proliferation and cytotoxic activation and secretion of IFN-g subsequently leading to tumor inhibition. Additionally, IL-12 inhibits angiogenesis and formation of tumor vascularization through activation of IFN-g and subsequently IP-10 and MIG chemokine pathways and also through inhibition of vascular endothelial growth factor.
