Danny H. Lewis, Ph.D., is an internationally recognized expert in biomaterials and controlled release pharmaceuticals, and a pioneer in biodegradable drug delivery systems with 35 years experience in the field. Dr. Lewis was Scientific Founder, President, and Vice-Chairman of Medisorb Technologies International, a DuPont-Stolle Company, prior to its being acquired by Alkermes, Inc. He is a Past–President of the Controlled Release Society (CRS) and has received the prestigious Founders Award and the Nagai Innovation Award from that organization. Dr. Lewis has served as a board director and in scientific advisory boards of several biotech companies. During his career, he has extensive experience in raising capital, licensing and acquisition negotiations, R & D, manufacturing, and clinical and regulatory affairs. From 1996 to 2005, as President of Lewis Consulting, Inc., he was engaged by major pharmaceutical and biotech companies on the development of controlled release pharmaceuticals and medicated devices, including drug eluting stents.
